Obama a Che Guevara supporter?
You'd think not, but according to the video here, the Che Guevara flag is flying prominently in his Houston campaign office.
Now, I'm sure it was placed there by a well-meaning staffer, but really . . . do you want your photo associated with a mass-murdering icon? I mean, why not just put a picture of Ted Bundy up?
Or did he not kill enough people to qualify?

Would an American supported dictator like Augustus Pinochet,General Maximilio Hernández, Anastasio Somoza Garcia, General Efrain Rios Mont,Roberto Suazo Cordova,General Manuel Noriega,Pol Pot, Joseph Kasa-Vubu,or Suharto have suited you better?
And the comparison to a man who personally raped, tortured and killed 30 plus women, just perpitrates the myth that you are just another right wing nutjob using shock value over substance.
People like just hurt the cause.
"Che's life is an inspiration for every human being who loves freedom. We will always honor his memory." NELSON MANDELA
"Argentine physician and freedom fighter." UNITED STATE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HEALTH
"Knowledge makes us accountable" CHE GUEVERA
I don't get it.
It's just some volunteers.
he myth that you are just another right wing nutjob using shock value over substance.
Well, the only thing you got right was that it's a myth that I'm a rightwing nutjob who uses shock value over substance.
You want substance?

I prefer this quotation:
"To send men to the firing squad, judicial proof is unnecessary,"
-Che Guevara
So, moose, did it take a lot of practice to become what Stalin called a 'useful idiot', or were you born that way?
Was I born that way?
I've read a few of your other comments and seen your childish put downs, but that one was amusing.
You tend to get furious when someone just might have a different opinion than you and are silent when someone has pointed out an oversight or mistake you have made.
At least you left it to a Ted Bundy comparison. Other columns and blogs are comparing Che to Stalin, Hitler, Himmler, etc...
When I was younger I bought into the cult of Che, based solely on that famous iconic image thats plastered everywhere.
I then read The Motorcycle Diaries and loved it. But the book tended to be haphazard and nonideological except for a few passages. Che had not yet become an ideologue when he was touring South America on his motorcycle. In the book he reflects on the complex history of Latin America, and he expressed attitudes that managed to be pro-Indian and, at the same time, pro-conquistador.
It took me a few years to realize this was not the same Che in that photograph. Compared to other Latin American dictators at the time he was pretty tame, but he does not in anyway deserve the cult status.
moose - yeah, good call, don't refute what I put up there, just make up an accusation.
I rarely if ever get furious at anything, and I welcome other opinions. I just prefer that they be informed, and that the other person be willing to at least try and see my point of view.
And when I go silent, it's usually because I tire of arguing with someone over the internet.
ted - I haven't read his earlier writings - I only know what I've read about Guevara in later years.
I don't know if I agree that he was tame, but he does not in anyway deserve the cult status, I can agree with.
